About me.

Samuel Herrick.

Builder. MBA, William & Mary. AI-native since 2023. Based in Central Virginia.

How this started.

I started using AI tools the day I began my MBA at William & Mary in 2023. I've been hands-on with every major model since: ChatGPT, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Deep Seek. I know what these tools are good at and where they fall apart, because I've been using them constantly.

Around the same time, my dad needed a real website for his towing company in Fredericksburg. I built it. Then his other business in Henrico needed one too. I built that. Both of them turned out well, and I realized something: small business owners don't need a $20,000 agency to get a website that works. They need someone honest who'll show them the work as it goes and not hide behind jargon.

That's what Herrick Automations is for.

What I'm not.

I don't build e-commerce stores, multi-location franchise sites, or apps with complex user accounts. Those are different kinds of work. If you need one of those, I'll tell you honestly and point you to someone who specializes in it.

I'm a one-person shop. There's no project manager standing between us. You email me, I email you back. That keeps prices fair and timelines predictable.

What I value.

  • Honesty over upsell. I'll tell you what your site needs and what it doesn't.
  • Real human in the loop. AI helps me move fast, but you're hiring me, not a chatbot.
  • Transparent gates. You see the wireframe, the prototype, and the styled site. No big reveals at the end.
  • Ongoing support. Most builds include monthly support so the site doesn't rot after launch.
